The Future Is Now: Eradj Khaidarov on How Ambient Photonics’ Technological Innovation Will Shake Up the Tech Scene

As part of our series on cutting-edge technological breakthroughs, I had the pleasure of interviewing Eradj Khaidarov.

Eradj has led innovative teams in the collaboration and video conferencing space for most of his 20-year career in software engineering. He was a key member of the core engineering team at Genesys Conferencing, building solutions for Fortune 1000 companies and competing with brands such as WebEx and Cisco. He later built and commercialized his proprietary solution at Intrado, implemented as Intrado Hoot Meetings.

In 2018, Eradj founded 6Ripples, a software solution designed to help real estate agents find qualified leads using Smart CRM and AI-based lead generation. The platform helped estimate the likelihood of price bidding wars and simplified ad placement on Facebook, Instagram, and Google. By leveraging computer vision and natural language processing (NLP), 6Ripples increased lead conversions by recognizing key features in listing images.

As CTO at IrisCX, Eradj is now building an advanced human-to-human collaboration platform that enhances the way brands deliver customer experiences. Using AR, AI, and process automation, the enterprise-level platform collects and analyzes data, helping brands create more human-centric interactions.

Career Journey

Thank you for joining us! Before we dive in, our readers would love to learn more about you. What led you to this career path?

I got lucky in college in the early 2000s. Genesys Conferencing in Toronto took a chance on me as a quality assurance engineer. Manual testing quickly became mundane, so I built my first scripting automation engine and pitched it to my boss. It was adopted to automate repetitive tasks and validate application quality.

This innovation opened doors for me to become a software engineer. I was inspired by the problem we were solving—creating a product that allowed people to collaborate without traveling thousands of miles. Later, WebRTC piqued my interest as it removed the need for developers to manage networking stacks like TCP, UDP, and SIP to enable video calls.

In 2011, I anticipated that people would tire of installing software for video calls. To address this, I built an SDK that simplified WebRTC development, making it easier for Fortune 1000 companies to integrate video solutions. My passion for human communication led me to real estate, where I founded 6Ripples to help agents connect with buyers through AI-driven tools.

In 2021, I was introduced to IrisCX and saw how my expertise could help solve customer experience challenges. Today, as Chief Product and Technology Officer, I am building a virtual sales platform that uses Smart Video and AI to make complex purchasing decisions easier.

Interesting Career Moments

One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is: Don’t ask for a map—ask for directions. When given a map, people tend to follow it blindly rather than carve their own path. When building Intrado Hoot Meetings, I realized that vendor APIs were cumbersome, so I created a vendor isolation layer. This allowed us to switch technology providers easily without disrupting business operations.

Cutting-Edge Technological Breakthroughs

Everyone is buzzing about ChatGPT. While generative AI is exciting, it follows a general model approach. At IrisCX, we’re exploring ways to make visual and natural language AI more personalized and accessible.

Imagine an AI-powered app that visually analyzes your living space and provides personalized buying recommendations based on your style, brand preferences, and colors. Instead of sending generic shopping links, the system would help you visualize products in your home before purchasing. This technology could reduce buyer’s remorse and make large purchases stress-free.

Beyond shopping, IrisCX aims to revolutionize product support. Imagine getting rid of instruction manuals and having an AI system that visually analyzes your appliance issues in real time, guiding you through repairs or instantly connecting you with an expert.

Impact on the World

Movies like Total Recall envisioned video calling long before it became mainstream. Today, FaceTime and Zoom are second nature to us. Studies show that 40-60% of people are visual learners, and technology should cater to this. I see a future where visual intelligence reduces stress, waste, and carbon footprints by enabling smarter buying decisions and reducing unnecessary product returns.

Potential Drawbacks of AI-Powered Technology

With any innovation, privacy concerns must be addressed. Home is a private space, and any technology that interacts with it should ensure data security and user consent. Large companies profit from consumer data for targeted ads. Consumers must be mindful of how much access they grant to apps.

Breaking Through to Widespread Adoption

Customer experience should not just be a corporate buzzword. Many companies focus on deflecting customer interactions to reduce costs, but true customer experience minimizes stress and solves problems efficiently.

Instead of relying solely on NPS and CSAT scores, IrisCX uses sentiment analysis and AI to measure positive customer interactions, like smiles and thank-yous. These human signals provide a more accurate gauge of customer satisfaction.

Innovative Marketing Strategies

We actively participate in CX and home product industry events. In 2022, we joined accelerators with Google for Startups and Stage 2, where we pitched our vision to investors and industry leaders. Our marketing approach focuses on business value rather than product features.

Mentors and Influences

I’ve been fortunate to work with great mentors, including Don H., who gave me my first leadership opportunities. He sent me to Shanghai in 2006 to build an engineering team, which shaped my communication skills and leadership style.

Advice for Aspiring Innovators

  1. Be a good salesperson – Even in tech, you need to sell your ideas and get buy-in.
  2. Understand the business side – Connecting tech solutions to business goals makes you indispensable.
  3. Prioritize customers – Unblock dependencies and enable others before tackling your own tasks.
  4. Challenge the status quo – Offer alternative solutions instead of just criticizing existing processes.
  5. Be grateful – Recognize and credit the silent contributors to your success.

A Movement for Good

Stop searching for shortcuts to success. Put in the effort, be direct, and build genuine relationships. Honest feedback fosters growth, and strong relationships lead to better outcomes.

Favorite Life Lesson

Never stop learning. I believe there’s always more to discover, and that curiosity keeps me motivated and forward-thinking.

The Future of IrisCX

IrisCX is redefining customer experience by making interactions more human and predictive. Consumers want expert advice when making purchases. Video enhances trust and connection, leading to higher conversions and fewer returns.

B2B sales platforms like Outreach, Gong, and Clari have shown the power of voice analytics. IrisCX is pioneering visual intelligence, bringing AI-powered virtual selling experiences to direct-to-consumer brands.
